Following up on my last post, it seems that 'kjournald' (ext3 kernel
thread) latches on to at least one of my nfs-mounted filesystems.  The
volume _is_ an ext3 filesystem, but the question is why kjournald sees it
that way over NFS.  If I arrange for the local ext3 filesystem
(fortunately not /) to be umounted before autofs shutdown, things proceed
normally.

Any idea why kjournald has an affinity for an NFS volume?
