I'm a fanatical SuSE user, all my systmes are SuSE, but nonetheless, 8.0 is totally 
screwed up as far as the rc.config-now-renamed-sysconfig (Blast you, RedHat) is 
concerned.

If you look carefully through YaST you will see that there is an (new?) item to 
configure the services that are started at boot time -- I forget it's name and I'm not 
near an 8.0 system to look for you at the moment.
You need to use that and put AutoFS in at least init 5, probably init 3 as well. Or 
you can simply run the following command:

        insserv autofs

Hope that helps and I hope RedHat dies....
