as I posted yesterday on lkml - I still have problems with duplicating the entries.
I had that problem a while ago and asked here for help, but nothing really new 
appeared.

-custom kernel 2.4.18 + O(1) sched (with or without, the same), SMP
-autofs v3 in kernel (had the same problem with v4 way back at ~2.4.14-.16, so i 
backed to v3)

To get rid of the entries, you have to stop autofs, then umount all remaining entries 
manually, _IN THE CORRECT ORDER_, maybe 2-3 times, until all netmounts are gone.
This sounds pretty like an SMP problem to me - I have ~100 UP boxes running with now 
problem with big uptimes (albeit with kernel 2.2.19).
This server is 22 days up (due to upgrade to 2.4.18).

IIRC this appeared first when switching to 2.4.X

I'm afraid booting an testing kernel-autofsv4 is not an option at the moment, because 
it's doing productive work.
