I am not doing any more work on this at this stage.
Perhaps if there was some input and the possibility of the patches making it
into the distribution I would want to put more effort into it (Jeremy are
you still there ???).

Subject: [autofs] autofs4, direct maps, NIS maps, HP-UX,
Solaris and linux integration

        Hello automounters,
Please, I am new to this list and if possible I would like you to
answer some
basic questions regarding autofs on linux.
I understand that direct maps and NIS maps does not work with
autofs4.
In our UNIX environment both are of major importance. Home
directories through
indirect NIS maps and maintenance directories through direct maps
some placed
        locally and some through NIS.
What would you suggest me to do in order to include linux boxes in
our UNIX
environment? Are patches for autofs4 available giving these
features? Wait
for autofs5? Use alternative tools such as AMD? Modify the NIS maps
through
scripts to local maps and access directories through soft links?
        Best Regards
