ok so i recompiled my kernel to inculde a few extra things, maily scsi emulation support for my cdrw drive. also when i rebooted i logged back in and typed ps -axuw |grep auto and got the following:
toysoil 519 0.0 0.0 1468 452 pts/0 R 01:15 0:00 grep auto
so that means that its running so since that works i tried ./rc.autofs status and got :
Configured Mount Points:
------------------------
/usr/sbin/automount /auto/dvd file /etc/auto/auto.dvd -timeout 10

Active Mount Points:
--------------------

so apprently i'm not getting any of the mount points to mount fun fun hahah
