I can wait for beta3, no problem. Do you do s/sh/bash/ in it while you're at it (or optionally POSIXify the script)?
I think that unrolling the path regex (searching individually) will be bourne shell compliant.
Do you think that will be sufficient. I would rather stick within Debian policy if possible.
Are there any other bits you've noticed that might be a problem?
