In package/Makefile.am:
ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4
In package/subpackage/Makefile.am:
ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I ../m4
You shouldn't need to run aclocal directly; if you run autoreconf, it
should Just Work.
