Well, not mainly, but there is certainly an emphasis toward portable projects. Sometimes compromises have to be made, and that's when this may matter. Stuff that is completely unportable (like your dlltool stuff) simply stands a smaller chance to be supported "nicely". Since you can still get what you want by simply using plain `make' rules and syntax, GNU make's even, I don't see any problem with that. Cheers, Ralf
