Hi everyone,
In our effort to clean and maintain the autotest code base, we've been
looking at making the web interface to use the latest stable
versions of
each core component. The first stage of this work went upstream this
Monday.
Now, one thing that was brought into our attention that
gwt-incubator is
a deprecated piece of code, so myself and Cleber started to look at
getting rid of its dependency.
While doing that we realized that the planner frontend is the only
frontend that does require the incubator. Now, I remember clearly
that a
while ago, Greg mentioned that there are no more plans of finishing
planner, and some different route was chosen to attend his team's
needs.
Right now planner is an unfinished piece of software.
Given that it's unfinished and there are no plans to finish it, my
proposal is to remove it from the autotest tree. The plan is:
1) Remove gwt frontend code
2) Remove django app and models
3) Plan a migration removing planner related tables
4) Of course, a lot of testing and certifying we've done it right :)
I am sending this to people that might have a word to say about it.
Meanwhile, we'll start working on it.
Cheers, thanks for your attention!
Lucas
Removing it makes sense to me. Dead code is a burden.
It is always available in version control should anyone ever want to
resurrect it and this thread is archived on the mailing list for
pointers and info about it. :)

FIY, I've just sent a patchset that removes planner. I believe I've done
enough testing, but feel free to do it also.
