No experience with "valgrind"
could you provide me with details to obtain the information you require via valgrind

(installed port /usr/ports/devel/valgrind-snapshot)

Like sebest already said: this looks like a gtk bug, not an avahi
bug. However, just make sure that this isn't a result of some kind of
memory corruption bug in avahi, could you run this through valgrind?
(Only if there is a valgrind for FreeBSD)
