Howdy folks, The new patch in 0.6.15 that checked the sending process of netlink messages has turned out to be bogus and break in some cases, most especially when using NetworkManager.
I have a new patch here http://lathiat.net/avahi-0.6.15-checkcred.patch Is everybody that is able/can/wants to, whether they had the problem or not, able to test this? The most notable case to test is starting with the network down, starting avahi, and then bringing the network up, this specific case consistently broke with network-manager (easiest way to test is to have another device on your network advertising, and see if it appears in avahi-discopver) If you can report if you had this problem with 0.6.15, and then if you have this problem with this patch applied, and whether you are using network manager or something else. Of course, general testing of any scenario is welcomed to make sure this patch doesnt break something else :) If this patch does break something, please look for lines that say Netlink message received from cred->uid != 0 (<UID) And include that line (or specifically the value of <UID>) Thanks :) Trent NOTE: Those compiling on 2.6.19 (e.g. Ubuntu Feisty) may wish to apply this patch also http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/tmp/avahi-2.6.19-compile.patch _______________________________________________ avahi mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/avahi
