I cannot resolve the hostname on any of the Mac OS X machines...

"ping: cannot resolve trauma.local.: Unknown host"

on the Linux machine (trauma)...

#getent hosts trauma.local
192.168.1.42 trauma.local

#getent hosts empte.local
192.168.1.101 empte.local

I'm running shorewall on the Linux box, but I've also tried it with
the firewall disabled.

I've tried several different network cards (both wired and wireless).
