Hi Jeremy, The issue here does not really seem to be with avahi-autoipd, it seems something is triggering our network interface to go down (basically what carrier-changed means). It may be that your network hardware is flaky (switch, cable, card) — or could also be some bug in the driver or network-manager/dhcp.
A quick google suggests people having problems with a all of the above causing similar log messages, so opening a bug on launchpad with a full copy of the log output from syslog is probably your best course of action. Feel free to also post a copy of syslog here so I can review the exact series of events.
