Let me sit on it for a little bit (I have some paid work I need to do), and I will post another email listing our options, their pros and cons, and then we can get some informed opinions on which balance is best. Now, if only I could get Peter D. in on it as well.... Anyway, once we get the informed opinions we will commit the interfaces. Who knows, what we come up with for the Manipulator may make it completely identical to the Output, with the only differentiation being the purpose of the component.
Ok.
It would be interesting to get Stephen's spin on it as well since his meta info stuff is pretty cool. We might be able to connect them in the container, in which case what Kevin last proposed would work without a separate "registration" method. The only downside is that we are relying on black magick which may work, but I would need help explaining it.
We'll see...
As for connecting the Morphers automatically, I've created the ObjectFlavor.
I named in another way, but found out that the JDK had a similar thing, and switched to *Flavor.
Anyway, it's something that tells the Pipeline that a Morpher is made to accept a certain data format in a certain form.
Example, it can be given an XML file via File, DOM, SAX, but it's still XML. Or it can have a File, that can contain GIF, XML, DOC, but is still a File.
ObjectFlavor fixes the combination.
Anyway, I must write the basic docs, or Andrew C. Oliver will 87489275829(hashcode of a very nasty word) me! ;-)
