Well the other specs like servlet/ejb/etc (ie .war/.ear assemblies) have
read-only configurations. If you need to change configuration you are meant
to change it inside war/ear before you deploy it. IIRC there was an
opensource GUI that made this easy to (perhaps associated with JBOSS
project???).
However in time I suspect the configuration in the .sar will only be a
template that will be expanded once we install the sar file. So our config
template will be read-only while I am not sure about our config instance (or
even if it will be contained in .sar).
