Jeff,

I hadn't been able to get back to this until today, but I just got a clean 
checkout from CVS and tried it.  Only one word for it, AWESOME.  Worked 
flawlessly the first time!  This, to me anyway, sets a new standard for 
ease/predictability of build in Open Source! Congratulations!
