Berin,

long story short: I and Peter did some off-the-list talk about naming, 
and -- the only way I'll accept abstract names is if they are
somehow encoded so as to not offend my sensibilities. I believe
we settled on BASE64, but with Nicola Ken's suggestion, I realized
that Morse would be preferable.
