a few things that come to mind could be... Customized development/testing environments. perhaps the existing containers are not quite customizable/extensible enough. perhaps the existing containers don't fit well into an existing (non-avalon) framework. maybe microcontainer is not flexible enough, and fortress is too heavy for a particular use.
