Given the elimination of BlockContext dependencies from the Cornerstone code base the situation has changed. I think it will be possible for Merlin to duncamically build the required meta information based on the old-style Phoneix descriptors. I.e. no need to xfiles in the source. I'm still digging - but if I can do it inside code under the Merlin or the assembly package its clearly a better solution.
