yup. I've been getting pretty frustrated with our build (particularly excalibur) as well. It is all quite fragile, and when you add gump integration needs (looks like someone fixed stuff, kudos) it all becomes pretty much a Big Ball of Mud.

The dependency mapping of ant pretty much failed us (it's not built for this kind of complexity), and the system Jeff put in place works but is complex to maintain (at least I get lost all the time).

Both centipede and maven offer big improvements over the current system. Both are in an alpha stage (despite maven marked as beta, the difference between b3 and b7 is huge). I will be amendable to using either as soon as I'm confident the user-accessible points are sort-of stable (and gump integration is easy).
