The JDK still has deprecated classes from Java 1.1 ... I'm +1 on a 'compat.jar', after its been in there for awhile we can the remove permanently.

In Cocoon I have moved the deprecated classes to a separate dir, so that I can try to compile all Cocoon without the deprecated classes.

Guess what, surprise surprise!, we are not able to do it! ;-)

Sun has used deprecation as "supported but not preferred", which somewhat broke the meaning. HEck, why not remopve stuff from 1.1 now, isn't it time, my sUn? Hmmm, does it still compile? ;-)
