If it had run it's course and trojan code placed, then it could have been the 
hacking equivalent
of emptying Fort Knox.  One Christmas day or Thanksgiving, the dormant back 
doors sewn into
thousands of webservers would have been activated and $billions stolen 
(assumption that they had
enough hackers and could get away with it).

Incidentally, Java offers permissions which many languages and operating 
systems do not.  A great
way of protecting yourself from malicious code.  Way better that simple Yes/No 
of ActiveX.  I
volunteered to do some such improvement for Avalon some months ago but never 
started it.  I guess
that's noted anyway, but worth mentioning (sorry folks).
