Rana Bhattacharyya wrote a .sar application for Avalon called FtpServer. He's keen to donate it to the cause and have it appear as a Cornerstone application. Peter has been aware of the app's development (as have I) and it looks good so far. It works for anon and authentacted users, but Rana's up to his neck in work at the moment and can't begin the planned FtpLet architecture.
We've discussed where to place it in the CVS tree. and think that (under jakarta-avalon-cornerstone) either ... i) src/ftpserver/org/apache/ftpserver/** ii) apps/ftpserver/src/java/org/apache/ftpserver/** .. are front runners. I think that the idea is that the default build target of cornerstone makes both the service/demo bar/sar plus the a number of application bars/sars. Included, but disabled for the mo, are a Swing app that via RMI hot configures the server. What are we Voting on? ====================== 1) Take the FTP server under the Avalon umbrella 2) Put it in cornerstone as apps/** (Peter and I think that is better) 3) rename from "plain" FtpServer to AptSnarf (anagram of "Rana's FTP") as Apache does not do plain names. I'll do the migration as I am a little familiar with the code. Regards, - Paul H ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
