Inside Phoenix head there is a newer faster generator called metagenerator. If you build it a jar is made than works with qdox to make xinfo and mxinfo files. It is unit tested.
Please use it instead of the xdoclet one which has been deprecated as you say. Copy usage from Cornerstone, until I can fully migrate apps/

one additional question ...
the java source code for the Xdoclet task states that
this task is depricated. allthough there seems to be
a replacement for that ant task in 'jakarta-avalon-apps'
this task is based on a library called 'qdox-1.0'.
what about that task?
which one should be used and which tags are available?
