At the lifecycle level:
* a Configuration is supplied by a container at the beggining of the
deployment lifecycel
* a Context instance is supplied after configuration
Ahem. With my spec-police hat on, I must insist that this is backwards! Context comes before Configure. http://jakarta.apache.org/avalon/framework/reference-the-lifecycle.html
It's 02:46 in the morning - just back from a really nice dinner and some good wine - under these circumstances I'm allowed to make a slip or two! Aside from my excuse - I honestly have never really gotten to the point of appreciating the logic behind the order of the lifecycle between instantiation and initialization. If I had the chance to change things I would probably revise it to something like :
1. instantiation
2. configuration
3. parameterization
4. service
5. contextualization
6. initialization
... and in doing so, break all sorts of things!
Off with his head!
Deservedly so. :-( Steve.
