Hi,
As a new comer to avalon project, I am not sure about
the difference between LogKit and Log4j. Can someone
please point out the difference?
Both toolkits started out being quite different in feature set and usage pattern. With each release of both kits, they grow closer to each other, supporting more of each others' feature sets. No up-to-date comparison chart or anything like that is available I think.

For 'casual' use, the practical differences between the two are quite small. As an example, if you are developing for a recent avalon container release (like Avalon-Phoenix 4.0.3), the only difference you really need to worry about is the configuration changes in kernel.xml.

I briefly went
through the whitepaper, and it looked like that LogKit
is a duplicate implementation of Log4j, is it so?
nope. They /are/ different implementations for the same basic thing, namely (server-side) logging, but neither is a duplicate of each other.

cheers!
