I think the timeouts are the actual problem. I've never seen it that way before, and I've also been using V 7.x firmware recently. If you want, you could give the SVN version of AVaRICE a try. I've rearranged the entire error handling to using C++ exceptions. As a number of things are handled a lot cleaner than before, there's some chance it might recover better.
