Not that I would know how this was originaly created - but just by
looking at the code I belive the purpose was to check if the object
is present in the list.

I've modified the code appropriately - now it fail if the object is not
found in the list - which is slightly different behaviour - so if some weird problems
appears with win32.c this could be the reason for them - if the current
implementation gives us trubbles - then we could safely remove
whole loop as it would useless.
