Okay,.. I know you guys don't like RedHat, but anyway humour me please

I set the compilation options in the Makefile.am to allow
-finline-limit=20000, allowing me to sucessfully run aviplay again, note here
it can be run without this only there is then no sound (as was stated earlier
in the list)

So I've assessed performance with and without -finline-limit in the
compilation, and it performs better without it. From the logs you've
previously seen on the list is this because audio decoding is never performed
when that error occurs and therefore there is more available cpu time for
video decoding?

If this was the case is there anyway of turning off sound to test this
theory?... and does the benchmark facility offer benchmarking with sound as
well? If it did turn out to be the case that the sound decoding was using
excessive cpu time, could anything be done about this?

Thanks very much,

Chris Horler.
