If nvidia were to release the driver in source form, not just binary,
like it does now, I believe that it would be a Good Thing (TM) for
avifile. Am I correct?

I will write to nvidia (again) and complain (again) about about the
closed source.

If anyone is having the same problem, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to
send them some hate mail <grin> mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

What I said in my previous mails to them:

1. release the OpenGL driver in source form, so it can be incorporated
into XFree86 and into the linux kernel.

2. until they do so, I'll avoid purchasing anything that says nvidia for
my company (I have purchasing decision). Maybe this will hurt them
enough to at least consider Open Sourcing the driver.

Also, something I looked up just now,

ATI Tech (nvidia's main competitor) is doing the Right Thing (TM),
helping the community in developing Open Source drivers for their
products (Radeon).

What do you think?
