Hello everyone,

Somebody may have already noticed that there is a new plugin
available in CVS. Now Linux users have a wide choice of 3 ways for
decoding DivX ;-) 3.11 - Windows DLLs, ffmpeg plugin ( added by Zdenek
some time ago ) and now this: new release of ProjectMayo's codec. It's
closed-source, but has an advantage of being faster than others
without postprocessing ( on Pentium-III it is roughly 30% faster
than M$ DLL ).
To install it, you have to do several steps.
     1. Download latest divx4linux release from ProjectMayo's web site
( http://download.projectmayo.com/dnload/divx4linux/divx4linux-20010718.zip ).
Archive will include 2 .h files ( copy them to /usr/local/include )
and 2 .so.0.0.0 files ( copy them to /usr/local/lib ). Run
/sbin/ldconfig.
     2. Check out sources from CVS ( as usually, but replace module
name avifile-0.6 with opendivx ). Run ./configure; make; make install.
     3. So far there are no methods of prioritizing different plugins
which try to decode the same format. Guaranteed method to make sure
that new plugin is in use is to remove divx*.dll and divx_c32.ax
from directory with DLLs.
Plugin should be more or less stable, the only known issue so far
is not quite correct behavior with highest postprocessing levels (
will be fixed in later PM's releases ).
