avifile can play just about any format i've been able to throw at it, from raw avi to divx to asf to wmv files to all those other codecs in between. I am using what i would think to be the newest codecs for wmv files since i copied them from my windows install that had media player 7.1 installed. Yet, aviplay only plays garbled video (codec wmv8ds32.ax) for a bit then segfaults, mplayer wont even play that much.
