[Avifile]Problems with sound

I've just bought myself a laptop and just compiled aviplay on it, but I can't 
seem to get any sound output.

I'm using alsa for the soundchip (yamaha) and the message in the terminal is: 
"SdlAudioRenderer: FATAL: Couldn't open audio device"

Everything else seems to work just fine.  Anybody got a clue what might be 
wrong and what I could try?

Ps. I'm multibooting on the laptop and you should be happy to hear that the 
video-output is far better on aviplay then in Windows Media Player (newest) 
and mplayer.
