Hello,
I was trying to test avifile-0.6 to upgrade from avifile-0.53.5 when
I found I could not use zooming, maximize, etc.
After looking through the FAQ I found:
"It is necessary to have SDL compiled with support of XFree86 4.0 for
this extension to be used. Otherwise you'll receive message
'no hardware acceleration detected!' in the console every time you
open the file with aviplay, even if your card is actually supported."
I thought the Matrox G450 was very similar to the G400, but it seems
hardware support does not work. Currently I'm using Xfree86-4.0.3 and
SDL-1.1.8/1.2.2. (Further I use the Matrox mga_drv and kernel 2.4.7).
When examining the source I found in "lib/aviplay/renderer.cpp" an
option "allow_sw_yuv" which allowed me to use zooming when set to true.
With mtrr enabled it allows me to show movies flawlessly at 800x600 at
16bpp. At 24bpp aviplay still drops a few frames.
Has anyone succeeded in making hardware acceleration work with a G450?
Since there are a lot of videocards not present in the supported cards
in the FAQ should the option "allow_sw_yuv" not be named in
the documents somewhere? You might even consider making it a configure
option.
With kind regards,
Huub
