Hello everyone
I've made some changes in video renderer initialization so
now users could play 'game' with GUI switches and try to
figure out which rendering mode is the best for them.
Here are just some general advices for those who can't use YUV hw overlay.
- DivX windows codecs seems to be happy if you disable YUV rendering
as it provides its own RGB conversion which seem to be quite fast.
- ffmpeg which give us only YV12 surface is more than happy if you use
YUV software emulation from SDL (if you use this codec for DivX this is
the only way how to actually use this codec)
- DivX4 - somehow DivX4 seems to be very fast in YV12 rendering, but
aviplay is not very good when it should be used for RGB - I'm not
quite sure why...
Then you have switch for direct mode & buffering modes - and also
you may turn off autoquality if you computer is really too slow.
Basicaly - spend some time with 'top' - change various options
(you should be able to do this while playing the movie - no need to
restart player - at least I hope so) and try to figure out
which settings works best for you.
And also don't forget - use 16bit display depth unless use
have extremaly powerfull machine (in that case you have
YUV hw support most probably anyway)
