Hm... sorry, I have no any experiance in using CVS. In fact, I used RedHat 
and Mandrake before, and I heard of CVS first time last week, when I 
"upgrade" to Slackware. But, I have some C knowledge. Linker error was from 
./plugins/libdivx4/test.cpp. I checked XF86VidMode manpage, saw neccessery 
-lXxf86vm switch, looked in appropriate Makefile.am, added switch - and 
everything worked.
Until I have some study of CVS, I could not give you any more usefull backup. 
But, like I said, your beast was compiled and I have it working. It was quite 
enough for me. :)
