currently we do not support realtime mp3 compression (though we might in
the future)

so for now you have to recompress audio in avistream - you might
use avirecompress or other tools for this job...

well you need to have quite powerfull machine to compress 
video & audio at the same time - usually you wish to put all CPU cycles
into video compression and recompress audio track later (with VBR mp3 
- not yet supported in avirecompress)

I'm not sure but maybe ffmpeg is compressing both streams (a+v) at the
same time - thought I've not tried this yet...
