Are you regulary quiting aviplay or just killing it with -9 :)
(also we do not safe .avirc while creating coredump...)
rm ~/.avirc
aviplay testmovie.avi
ls -la ~/.avirc
and the file was there - so I would probably need to know more
details (which might be discussed in native languages :))
