nope not on SuSE second recent release (SuSE 7.2) uses:
automake (GNU automake) 1.4
Autoconf version 2.13
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.3.5 (1.385.2.206 2000/05/27 11:12:27)

and on my LFS systems also uses the exact same versions. As some progrmas 
need old autostuff and some need the new ones I have installed newer tools 
with prefix /opt/auto on the suse box, so zo use them I only have to change 
the path:
automake (GNU automake) 1.5
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.52
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.4.2 (1.922.2.53 2001/09/11 03:18:52)

btw. you get al the recent versions from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/
