Well I would have enough time I would play with IRIX (after all it's
just around 10 keystrokes on my keyboard away :) but I really could
not program everything myself.
Basicaly whole avifile is read - it even compiles and starts on 64bit machine
but as I said - until there will be at least one person who could
regulary check and program things for IRIX, Sun, PPC - I'm not going
to step in this area - simply there are other player already
(xine, mplayer) and I've I would say more important fix to do right now
(As I afraid the amount of users of SGI is closely approaching the zero)
But if you want to use avifile on IRIX it would be no problem to send
me patches (I think SGI audio might need extra support - assuming SDL
& Qt already works - SGI audio should be ported to SDL (if it's not
there already)
So if you feel yourself strong enough for this - go ahead
(and if you now MIPS asm that would be really usefull)
As for decoders - yes - might strengh of avifile is in Win32 codecs support
but we support also other plugins - so ffmpeg should be fully usable
on SGI, shortly Xvid will be supported (not sure if they are portable
but they should be) - mp3 decoders are no problem.
Ok you will be probably unable to play some exotic file formats like
Wm8 - but I guess I've speend 100time more time to implement support
for these codecs then I will ever spend in watching movies in this format
(especially for ACELP.net decoder...)
If you have any more questions - just ask...
