Dear avifile developers. I asked about that many months ago. But looks like this problem is still not solved. Last "stable" version of avifile is 0.53.3. And every new user downloads exactly that prehistoric source. And not only newbies... Many applications link with old avifile. Is it really a problem to call current version 0.6.0 and kill 0.53.3 forever?
