Subject: [Avifile]Avifile without Qt and KDE
One Option for using avifiles play/encode capabilities in a gtk environment is gmerlin (gmerlin.sf.net).
It plays avis and can transcode any other supported format (mpeg, quicktime, VCD etc.) into avis.
It contains a "light" version of the avifile library with all the qt and SDL parts removed.
For developing gmerlins avifile plugins, the original aviplay sources are used as a reference, so it will never become a "replacement" for aviplay :-)
