are you using actual CVS or one week old version ?
I've added   RESET ioctl for OSS audio renderer so audio should be stoped
immediately - for SDL audio renderer there is no such option thus
with SDL we are getting +/- 0.1 because of this and it's hard to do
something with it - as you simply do not know how many bytes are
left in the internal SDL buffer - one solution is to make them
very small - but in that case you are in danger that sound will be
skipping because of some latency in the system.

Anyway - you may try to use OSS audio renderer and see if this will
help - just swith OSS & SDL so the line in ~/.avirc will look like this:

AviPlayer AudioRenderer = 16 [ Binary ] OSS,SDL,noaudio
