This is one way - another is to install  mplayer - they have included
this mode as well (yeah they have much more developers, so do not 
expect I could produce the same thing in one-person mode ;)

But as it has been said - to create workable application to play
wma in console mode - would take probably just a few hours - so if
there is someone who routinely works with  ncurses I'd be more
than happy to include this sample app into avifile project.
