As of version 0.7.4 (I think) the plugin .so files no longer begin with
the prefix "lib" -- so once installed, the old plugins won't be overwritten
and /usr/local/lib/avifile0.7 will contain duplicate versions of all the .so
files.  If you delete the old ones (the ones that start with "lib")
everything should work fine.
    I recognize your name, by the way -- did Plover end up working for you?
