Sure, Mandrake content is frozen once released, and new packages are available in cooker only, with absolutly no confidence they would work on a plain release. And as cooker now uses gcc3.1, while 8.2 used gcc2.96, i'm sure binaries won't work, but you could grab the src.rpm and try to rebuild it.
