I'm not extactly sure if I understand what do you exactly want -

but the codec which is being used could be seen in avifile log
(and for video also in property dialog - I'll add also audio codec probably)

If you want to change the codec - open config dialog and in decoders tab
you could change the order of codecs - the first one wins - you could
order them as you wish with mouse and drag movement - but from
time to time these setting are being reseted...
