I raised this (or at least a related) problem here last week, after encountering a similar failure and seeing a bug report and patch/workaround for vcr on the Debian (Sid) package list for vcr. You might want to check that bug report, apply the suggested patch to vcr, and employ the suggested compiler workaround.
