Hi!

For sometime now I'm having the problem that avicap doesn't encode any sound
anymore. Specifically I can't encode mp3 sound anymore. In the config dialog
on the audio page the compressionformat box is simply empty, where there used
to be something to select mp3 sound. I'm having lame-3.93 installed.
Configure says:

...
checking for lame_decode_init in -lmp3lame... yes
...
Plugins:
  ac3passthrough yes (with SBLive only)
  divx4 (dec/enc) yes/yes (DivxNetworks)
  xvid yes (DivX4, XviD)
ffmpeg yes (DivX ;-), OpenDivX, MJPEG, AC3)
ffmpeg faad no (AAC) (runtime yes)
  os motion jpeg yes (MJPEG)
win32 yes (DivX, WMF1/2, DV, MJPEG, Ati, Asus,...)
  MAD yes (MPEG Layer I/II/III)
  vorbis yes
  lame runtime yes
...

I compiled with --enable-lamebin and without. The plugin libs
mp3lame_audioenc.so and mp3lamebin_audioenc.so are compiled. But running it
through strace they don't seem to be touched at all. So avicap doesn't even
try to load them. The video codec plugins are found though. Unfortunately I
can't select ogg either, and pcm encoding seems broken as well(it creates a
stream but there is no "sound" in it, it never worked for me, though). I'm
kinda clueless what could be wrong. I hoped it would magically fix itself
with some new version, but it didn't. I'm currently using 0.7.37(0.7.38
doesn't compile here).

Does anyone have an idea? Or a hint what else I could do to debug the problem?

Greets

Michael
