Now, after 4 years using uisp -dprog bsd, I changed to avrdude 5.1.
It is really nice software,
but I got a problem because of the logical ioctrl() in avrdude:
Many times a day I have to reactivate the driver running
                    rmmod parport_pc; modprobe parport_pc
after getting the error
    avrdude: AVR device not responding
    avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
                      this check.
Of cause uisp is still working, because it does not use the parport-driver.
I use Linux version 2.6.14-rc5.

Has anybody similar effects or any solutions?

Hanns-Konrad
